How Women Killed Cuteness

The world is full of things that send people into a wild rage as they vocalize, "OMG, THAT IS SOOOO CUTE!" Mylie T is one of the victims of what I like to call the cute overload syndrome (COS).

Most of the time, after I stop crying, I think to myself, "That really isn't that cute." Mylie replies, 'You are crazy -that absurdly cute!'

So I end up thinking why do I not think things are cute? After several years of not finding things cute, I decided that I would find out why the cute syndrome does not affect me.

I did a ton of soul searching and I could not link anything from my past that would cause me to not find things cute. So I starting asking other men, 'Do you find things cute?' I was surprised to find out that almost no man found things very cute.

Now that I realized that I am not the only person that does not find things cute I started thinking maybe it is society teaching that makes it where men cannot view things as being cute.

So, I began looking online for the history of the emotions of men. As I was looking through all the pages that popped up on a Google search, Mylie walked up next to me as I was opening a web page, she asked 'What are you looking up?" and as she asked that simple question the page finished loading and reveled a photo of a rats. The next thing that I remembered was something grabbing my arm and squeezing extremely tight as the sounds of "OMG! THAT IS SOOOOO CUTE!" fills the air. As I looked down at my arm where I noticed Mylie had taken a death grip as her excitement of seeing the rats grew. It seemed like her excitement rising was linked to the amount of pressure that was applied to my arm.

Her death grip is not an uncommon reaction to her seeing cute things. It was something that was accepted and adorable, but a light went off above my head - I think Mylie just gave me the answer to the question I was looking for.

I returned to the men that I talked with earlier about if they found things cute. I asked them when you see 'cute' things are you with your girlfriend or wife? They all said that they were with their life partner or current love.

This confirmed my suspicions - I know why men do not think things are cute and here is what I found.

First, we need to look at basic evolutionary biology and the important of pain as an evolutionary teacher. In short, pain teaches animals (human and non-human animals) to stay away from something for the survival of that species. This basic evolutionary teaching is what causes men not to find things cute because every time a image of 'cuteness' is presented to them it is followed up with some kind of pain, in my case the death grip. In return, it has created in the subconscious mind of men, a fear of cute things. The irony of this is that the very cuteness that our girlfriends love and live for has been killed by their love of cute things.

For me it is too late to learn from this because as of tonight a photo popped up on my computer screen...

Jason (and Mylie)

Hilarious and enjoyable post! Thanks for this.

I had read awhile ago that baby animals are cute (as defined by overly large eyes, soft bodies, etc.) so that parents of whatever species are less inclined to kill their young. It's harder to abandon or kill a cute animal, so goes the logic.

If you and Mylie ever have kids, watch out is all I'm sayin'.
