13 Horrors in My List

0

People are always asking me, “What is your favorite horror film?”  So, I decided to make this list of my top 13 horror flicks, with trailers and 3D footage included.

It is so hard to narrow down the best horror flicks because I like films for a variety of reasons.  For example, I like Wizard of Gore (both the original and the re-make) as much as I like Creature from the Black Lagoon, but for completely different reasons.

So here is my list, in random order…  and you will need 3D glasses for some of the videos.

I want to start off with House of Wax (1953) starring Vincent Price because if you read the post ‘What do vegetarian Zombies eat?‘ you would know how my 3D path got started.  If you haven’t read it, in short, it was one of my very first 3D films to see.

The second film has to be The Mask (1961)  – This film is on the list as House of Wax – it was a double feature of 3D awesome-ness.

Friday the 13th is next because I am including the first three films. Part 3 is only listed because it was in 3D and it is the film where Jason gets his mask.

Tourist Trap was a film that scare me to death when I was a child, you can read about that in the post, ‘A Childhood Horror‘.  Chuck Connors was a very creepy man in this film.

Return of the Living Dead 1 and 2 —  are in my list of all time favorite zombie films. (Watch your tongue, boy, if you like this job!)

Dead Alive –  If you have not seen this movie yet, you need to go buy it, go download it, just find a way to get your hands on this movie and watch it – you will not be disappointed.

Fright Night – When I was in middle school we used to have Fright Night parties.

The Omen

Halloween – I think this film is in everyone’s list and with good reason.

My Bloody Valentine – The original, but don’t get me wrong My Bloody Valentine was pretty awesome too.

Hellraiser – If you search for “Clive Barker‘ on my blog, you will find how much I like Clive Barker and Hellraiser was the film that opened my eyes to his work — Yeah, I know Rawhead Rex and a couple of other films were first but I found them later.

Witchfinders General – Yes, another Vincent Price film and when you watch it, you will also add this film your your top list.  If you want to watch this film, you can here on Psychosomatic Rants. – watch it now!

The Wicker Man (1973)  I just really enjoy this film and after traveling to Scotland and having the locals reference this film as they tell us to beware of parts of Scotland -totally makes this movie in my top list.

So this is my 13 list of horror films. I would love to know what horror films are your favorite, so let me know in the comments below.

I also added an amazon slide show below so if you want to grab any of these movies you can… so enjoy!

I love all the newest ones that are out now. If you go back a few years then I think the whole industry was in the doldrums. I think now they have really upped their game to keep us more interested. I cant wait for some of the big blockbusters this summer.
