Duke Nukem FOREVER!

Duke Nukem FOREVER!

Do you remember Duke Nukem?  Well, most people don’t remember the original Duke Nukem, which was a side-scroller, meaning the action is viewed from a side-view camera angle.  [singlepic id=1486 w=320 h=240 float=right]  I think most people think of Duke Nukem 3D when they think of this series.  Duke Nukem 3D was a first person shooter that played and felt like DOOM.  What made this game popular was its over the top kills and ‘uncensored’ adult themes.

Christian groups went nuts over this game and Media Watch said this about the game; [singlepic id=1487 w=320 h=240 float=right]

“Duke Nukem 3D moves the ‘shooter’ through pornography stores, where Duke can use XXX sex posters for target practice. Duke throws cash at a prostituted woman telling her to ‘Shake it, Baby’ his gun ever ready. In the game bonus points are awarded for the murder of these mostly prostituted and partially nude women. Duke blows up stained glass windows in an empty church or goes to strip clubs where Japanese women lower their kimonos exposing their breasts. Duke is encouraged to kill defenseless, often bound women.

There were several Duke Nukem expansion and versions of the game and there was talk of a sequel coming…. remember that Duke Nukem 3D came out in 1996.  The rumors of a sequel ran rampant in the gaming community for years, in fact, the talks still continue today.   Well, until last week when  it was announced that on May 3rd, 2011 – DUKE NUKEM FOREVER will be released to the North American public. (May 6th everywhere else).

After watching the trailer and game play videos – nothing has changed – well, except for the graphics, etc  but Duke Nukem is back!
