This Non-Religious Life Episode 74: Of Church and Taxes


As everyone who has even a basic understanding of what goes on with churches and the government knows, churches don’t pay taxes. Every recognized church in the US is a recognized nonprofit organization. It’s simply the way the US’s relationship with religion works. Well, according to this article, “[former] Arkansas governor turned media personality Mike Huckabee asked Southern Baptist pastors to consider whether tax breaks from the government are worth the accompanying restrictions on political speech.” This Thursday, June 13 Bob, Jason and I will discuss this at length, and you might be surprised by some of the things we say.
